William Kirkby-Jones AM Chairman LandcomPrior to his retirement in November 1995, Mr Kirkby-Jones was for nine years the founding managing director of the Defence Housing Authority, a Commonwealth Government Business Enterprise responsible for the provision of housing throughout Australian for Service men and women and their families. For eleven years from 1976 to 1987 Mr Kirkby-Jones was the managing director of the Housing Industry Association. Upon leaving school, Mr Kirkby- Jones served for some years both on the ranks and as a commissioned officer in the Royal Australian Armoured Corps. He then tool up a commercial career and had wide general management experience both within Australia and overseas. Following his retirement from the Defence Housing Authority, Mr Kirkby-Jones holds the following appointments. Chairman – Amber Group Australia Limited
Mr Kirkby-Jones is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. His special interests include strategic planning and leadership. In 1992 Mr Kirkby-Jones was the winner of the Sir Phillip Lynch Award. In the Same year he was made a Member of the Order of Australia. In 1995 he was a winner of the Returned Servicemen League’s "Anzac of the Year" Award. Mr Kirkby-Jones and his partner Maggie Robinson live on their small cattle property in Yass. |
