Following on from the Summit, the non-government co-hosts convened a series of state & territory roundtable discussions entitled Affordable Housing: After the Summit

The participants heard a report from the Summit and discussed ways of advocating and implementing key priorities for action in their regions.

Peter Newman Director of the Institute for Sustainability and Technology Policy Murdoch University

Peter Newman is the Professor of City Policy and Director of the Institute for Sustainability and Technology Policy, at Murdoch University .

He is Chair of the Western Australian Sustainability Roundtable advising the Premier on how to implement their Sustainability Strategy.

Peter’s book with Jeff Kenworthy 'Sustainability and Cities: Overcoming Automobile Dependence' was launched in the White House in 1999 and his 2001 co-authored book is called 'Back on Track: Rethinking Australian and New Zealand Transport.'

He was awarded a Centenary medal in 2003 for his contributions to Planning and Sustainability. In 2004 Peter was made a Sustainability Commissioner in NSW.
