Following on from the Summit, the non-government co-hosts convened a series of state & territory roundtable discussions entitled Affordable Housing: After the Summit

The participants heard a report from the Summit and discussed ways of advocating and implementing key priorities for action in their regions.

Hal Bisset - Associate of the Swinburne Institute for Social Research, Director of Ward Bisset Consulting

Hal has been an active participant in the social housing sector for over twenty years. During the early part of his career he was involved in the establishment of a number of community housing projects in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne . In 1986 he established Ecumenical Housing which developed a national reputation for effective research, policy development and advocacy in relation to state and national housing policies.

Ecumenical Housing also became a Housing Association developing and managing community housing joint venture projects between the churches and the Victorian Office of Housing. Hal was CEO of Ecumenical Housing until it merged with Inner City Social Housing Company in 2003 to form Melbourne Affordable Housing.

Hal is now an Associate of the Swinburne Institute for Social Research and a Director of Ward Bisset Consulting. He works as an affordable housing consultant to State governments, private developers and not-for-profit community organizations. Recent projects include the redevelopment of the public housing estate at Kensington in inner Melbourne for Becton and the development of an affordable housing strategy for the Victoria Harbour precinct in Melbourne ’s Docklands for Lend Lease.
